Jordan Poole hilariously forgot that even if you let the ball roll up the court without touching it off an inbound, the shot clock will still run.
Late in Monday night's game against the Bucks, Poole allowed the inbounds pass to roll all the way past midcourt, as he slowly trailed behind the ball, glancing up at the clock. The only issue? Poole thought that both the game and shot clock would not begin counting down until he touched the ball.
So, as Poole realized the shot clock was winding down, he threw his arms in the air in confusion, looking to the official and then to the clock, before realizing he had to act quickly to salvage the possession. To only add to the wildness of the play, Poole quickly picked up the ball and scored off a running floater to bring Washington within eight with just under four minutes to go in the game.
Poole heard it from fans across social media as the clip went viral, and the Wizards fell in a 142-129 shootout.
