Wizards sign Saddiq Bey to three-year, $30 million deal

Saddiq Bey is coming home.

Late Wednesday night, Bey’s agents at Excel Basketball told ESPN that the forward has agreed to a three-year, $20 million deal with the Wizards, bringing him back to the city where he starred as a prepster.

Bey, 25, averaged 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in 63 games for the Hawks last year before suffering a torn ACL in March, and while he miss at least part of 2024-25, the Wiz will add a sharp-shooting former first-round pick who is one of only nine players in NBA history with at least 650 three-pointers made in his first four seasons, according to ESPN.

Bey played his high school ball first at DeMatha Catholic and then at Sidwell Friends School in the District, and also played AAU ball for D.C. Premier before attending Villanova, where he made the All-Freshman Team in 2019 and was an Honorable Mention All-American in 2020.

The Nets selected Bey 19th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft and traded him to Detroit, where he made the All-Rookie Team that season, and he has averaged 14.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in his career, with a 35.2% three-point percentage.
