As the NFL void makes room for controversy, one voice is strongly standing behind Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins.

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer, a guy who knows a thing or two about what makes a winner, vocalized his support for the second-year quarterback in an interview with NFL Media.

"Dwayne Haskins is probably the best quarterback ever to play at Ohio State," Meyer said, according to Pro Football Talk.

Indeed, Haskins put up remarkable numbers during his final season with the Buckeyes – completing 70 percent of his passes for 4,831 yards, 50 touchdowns to just eight interceptions in 2018 – a fact some have forgotten amidst an at times awkward rookie season with the Redskins. Those numbers are in part what gave Washington confidence in selecting Haskins 15th overall.

But Meyer hasn't forgotten. Nor has he forgotten that Joe Burrow – who's primed to be the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft – got beaten out by Haskins at Ohio State prior to transferring to LSU, where he led the Tigers to a national championship in 2019.

"Joe was a little behind," said Meyer, per PFT. "You know why? Joe was also Mr. Ohio in basketball and they had a great team in the state championships, and he's just one of those all-purpose tough guy leaders."

"Joe Burrow is a no brainer. Absolute no brainer," he went on. "Can he throw as accurately as Dwayne? He's improved, but he wasn't that way. But his leadership skills, his toughness, competitive – you talk about a competitive maniac, that's who Joe Burrow is."

Kind words for both quarterbacks, and it sounds like Meyer's imagining a world where both can work out in the NFL, which should be comforting news for Redskins (and Bengals) fans.
