This is the Defenders' official credo (as listed on the XFL website):
On the shoulders of giants,
they stand tall.
Unconquerable. Unyielding.
Marching ever forward,
A force united.
One quest. One purpose. One resolve.
Seeking glory through grit.
Victory through valor.
The DC Defenders. Taking their stand.
February 2020.
Pep Hamilton was announced as the then-unnamed Defenders head coach back in February. Hamilton brings familiarity of the area as the former quarterback at Howard University, as well as NFL coaching experience.
These are the names of the seven remaining teams:
St. Louis BattleHawks
Tampa Bay Vipers
New York Guardians
Seattle Dragons
LA Wildcats
Houston Roughnecks
