Kyle Smith, the Redskins' director of college scouting, has been pulled off the road several times throughout this season to help evaluate pro prospects, according to 106.7 The Fan Redskins insider Chris Russell.
"I don't know if he was the one who said, 'We got to get Ha Ha,' I have no idea," said Russell. "But they felt it was necessary."
"And (Smith)'s a big Alabama guy, because he was the lead scout of the southeast region before becoming the college scouting director. But they've been ramping him up to be on the pro side as well, and to run the entire operation, quite honestly."
Clinton-Dix has not impressed since coming to the Redskins from the Packers in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
Nonetheless, it's important to note how Smith's role has expanded over the last few months, especially as the likes of Bruce Allen, Doug Williams and other front office members have come under fire.
