The final day of training camp in Richmond is here! The morning began with a surprising cut, as the Redskins released veteran corner Orlando Scandrick

Gruden to the podium. He confirms the team has released veteran DB Orlando Scandrick. They’ve seen enough from the young guys to feel confident with who they have, especially Moreau at nickel. They need to get him reps, hence releasing Scandrick now.

According to Jay Gruden, the former Cowboy was let go because the team likes what the've seen from their younger cornerbacks.

Jay says this had nothing to do with Scandrick’s play. They want to give him ample time to find a new team, but this has to do with the guys they drafted (Stroman, Alexander) and the emergence of UDFA Danny Johnson.

On the practice fields, several players who missed yesterday are back in action today.

Doctson is back. So is Swearinger. Veteran’s days for Trent Williams and Jamison Crowder. Don’t see Reed in the TE group, so probably a vet day for him. Harvey-Clemons still out.

Drama alert! D.J. Swearinger and Terrelle Pryor exchanged words after Montae Nicholson broke up a pass intended for Pryor.

Montae Nicholson broke up the last rep of one on ones to Pryor and DJ Swearinger let him know about it. And kept letting him know. And kept letting him know. And kept letting him know! (via @TIAWOMC) pic.twitter.com/B7nUbZAhic

Swearinger even got Pryor to flinch with a fake punch!

Speaking of the secondary, one of the DBs expected to get more reps with Scandrick gone is not practicing this morning.

Danny Johnson is out today. Not sure why. In uniform and a bucket hat but no pads on the side.

Another minor scuffle between the Redskins defense and Jets offense, this one involving Anthony Lanier.

Today’s feistiness update: all on the skins d vs Jets o. Another big scrum. No punches. A few players held back Lanier behind the ‘gathering’. All well now

Monday, August 13

Today marks the second day of joint practices with the New York Jets. Yesterday was marred by a massive brawl between the two teams, and Jay Gruden was not pleased.

Gruden to the podium: "It's unfortunate. We got a lot of good work in and it's unfortunate that gets overshadowed by the fights."

— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) August 13, 2018

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said he would consider fining or suspending players for fighting if necessary. He doesn't want a situation like Sunday to occur in a game. He called the incident "unfortunate".https://t.co/uE9e5BEaBj

Gruden also gave some updates on injured players.

Gruden to the podium: "It's unfortunate. We got a lot of good work in and it's unfortunate that gets overshadowed by the fights."

Speaking of injuries, the Redskins officially placed Robert Davis on IR this morning.

Robert Davis has been put on IR. New WR takes his place in the room. https://t.co/xDsOpm5jUA

In addition to Gruden, NFL officials talked to reporters before practice about some of the rule changes for this season.

Point of emphasis this year involves cracking down on illegal contact on DB's. Referee Carl Cheffers is here in Richmond. He says that DB's making a clear play on the ball will be rewarded.Aka, if you're a DB, look back. Find the ball. Coaches need to teach that.

No brawls as of yet today, but both teams are making some highlights on the field.

A taste of one on ones on the #Redskins defensive field. Dunbar with tight coverage on Robby Anderson, who made a tough catch. pic.twitter.com/7P1VSku1tw

Several key players are not at practice today, including Josh Doctson and D.J. Swearinger.

Some of the #Redskins sitting out today: Doctson, Swearinger, Scandrick and Phil Taylor. They join the known guys like JHC, Adonis Alexander and Nsekhe.

Jets and Redskins have exchanged some pushes and shoves this morning, but they're nothing compared to the brawl on Sunday.

First pushing & shoving of morning between #Redskins & #Jets ..Nothing major...for now. Trent Williams was not involved.

One of the #Jets OL pushed a #Redskins LB or DB but everyone made sure it didn’t escalate. After everybody split, Ziggy Hood shouted “I’m in your weight class! Pick on me!!”

Much like last year, Terrelle Pryor is making some great catches at Redskins training camp, but this time it's for the other team.

Pryor just made a ridiculous one handed catch back behind him in 7-on-7. He seems to quite like these Richmond fields.

The Redskins and Jets have begun scrimmaging in Richmond, and the Washington offense looks sharp on its first drive.

Alex Smith just had a nice take-off run to left for a nice gain, then hooked up with Samaje Perine on a big left screen (Perine showed good burst IMO) & then threw a TD pass to Vernon Davis. #Redskins #Jets
