The Capitals get on the board first, with Andre Burakovsky lighting the lamp just over two minutes into Game 7 against the Carolina Hurricanes Wednesday.
It was just minutes later when Alex Ovechkin found Tom Wilson for the one-timer in front of Carolina's Petr Mrazek, to put the Caps up 2-0 early in the first period.
The Caps, along with winning every game at Capital One Arena in this first-round series to this point, have now scored 16 games at home against Carolina.
The Capitals would hold that 2-0 lead going into the first intermission.
