2018 was a dramatic season at Redskins Park, and the inner workings of Washington's football team could be the focus of "Hard Knocks" in 2019.
The Redskins are one of five teams eligible to appear in HBO's annual reality show, which documents a single NFL team as it prepares for the upcoming season. The Cleveland Browns were the focus of the show in 2018.

— Matt Schneidman (@mattschneidman) December 31, 2018While the Redskins aren't the betting favorites to appear on the 2019 edition of "Hard Knocks," John "Cakes" Auville would love to see Washington on the small screen.
"That would get me back in the fold. A Redskins 'Hard Knocks' coming off this past season especially? With the way the season ended, fourth-string quarterback, stadium debacle, firing the executives, lot of uncertainty with the quarterback spot heading into 2019. That would get me back on 'Hard Knocks' if it featured the Redskins," said Cakes.
However, while Cakes believes the show would display the "drama and dysfunction" within the organization, Junkies producer Matt Valdez isn't so sure.
Valdez: There's no chance that HBO would highlight the drama and dysfunction.
Cakes: Of course it would be part of the story! You can't do a "Hard Knocks" with the Redskins and paint the rosy picture of what happened in the '80s and '90s. You have to talk about the current day Redskins.
Valdez: Of course, but there's not gonna be a camera in the meeting where Jay and (Greg Manusky) are talking about what someone on the defense is saying about their scheme, like what happened this year.
Bish: But HBO also wants eyeballs, so it's not gonna be a rosy piece.
Drab: But the Redskins have been boring the last couple offseasons. Yes, they have the meltdown here at the end of the season with a couple players, but in the offseason they've been boring.
Bish: Well, all I know is, I'd watch. ... If they did feature the 'Skins, I would certainly watch it. Not saying it would be entertaining, but I would watch it.
Junkies video producer Adam "Awadd" Epstein also weighed in, explaining why he'd be interested in the show as a Redskins fan:
Awadd: I think it'd be a great storyline. You got to remember: we have a Hall of Fame running back who's probably gonna come back and be training another guy who they brought in to be ... a superstar running back in Derrius Guice. That's a huge storyline there.
Cakes: It is? That's gonna bring a bunch of eyeballs? What?!
Bish: Are you serious? Are you serious?
Awadd: You don't think people would love to see all the training Adrian Peterson has done? He's been the best running back of my entire life! I'd love to see all the stuff he does behind the scenes. And there's gonna be a QB batlle. I mean, it's gonna be two nubbers, but it's still a competition.
Regardless of the focus, at least HBO knows it has three football fans willing to watch a Redskins "Hard Knocks."
