According to a recent survey from Clever, Richmond, VA ranks as the best city in America for burgers. Why Richmond? Adam Epstein tried to break it down on Tuesday (June 20) and Wednesday (June 21) on the Fan.
Milwaukee, Denver, Oklahoma City and Louisville round out the top five behind RVA. The ranking has to do with Richmond's number of burger restaurants per 100,000 residents -- 11.4 -- and a "burger passion" score of 87.2.
"The best burger in Richmond, according to the study, is Beauvine Burger Concept," AWadd said. "[...] Number two was Boulevard Burger & Brew.
"My favorite, of course, is Carytown Burgers and Fries, because in college I was working as a chef in that kitchen [...] making their tartar sauce and putting together the best burgers in town."
The survey ignited some discussion, so the topic was revisited the next day.
"A lot of people [said] they were surprised -- [Richmond has] a lot of solid places, but maybe not the best burger in the country," he said. "But I think that has a lot to do with it. It has to do with the fact that in Richmond, there are so many places that serve a decent burger.
"I feel like [Richmond's] popping up on a lot of lists lately. I think part of it is because the amount of people that are moving here -- it just feels like Richmond is on the rise right now."
