RICHMOND, Va. - VCU basketball coach Ryan Odom sat down for an interview with Adam Epstein of AWadd radio ahead of this year's A-10 men's basketball tournament.

Odom acknowledged the turbulence of his first year, needing to bring in a nearly all-new roster, and then having injuries to Max Shulga, Zeb Jackson and Sean Bairstow disrupt the season.

"We've certainly had some losses that not any of us wanted," Odom said. "But at the same time, we've had a resilient group, you know. All year, we've been thrown a lot of challenges."

Odom acknowledged the road won't get any easier in Brooklyn, where the Rams have to win four games in five days to reach the NCAA tournament. Odom cited consistency as a key, especially for a team that has had a handful of games where they haven't been able to win despite holding a double-digit lead.

"It's one game at a time, right?" Odom said. "You can run into a buzzsaw, a team that really is playing well at that given time, and it's a problem. We certainly want to be that team. We're excited to try to do that. The guys are confident - they've seen every team at this point, and they feel like they can play with any team and beat any team, especially on a neutral court."
