VCU will meet St. Bonaventure in a pair of nationally televised rematches of last season’s Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Game to highlight the Rams’ league schedule, released Thursday.
In all, 13 of VCU’s 18 Atlantic 10 regular season contests are scheduled to appear on a national broadcast network as part of the league’s robust TV package. The Rams are also booked to appear on the ESPN family of networks for all three of their Battle 4 Atlantis match-ups, as well as on NBC Sports Network when VCU hosts Penn State on Dec. 18 at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
VCU will kick off Atlantic 10 Conference play on Dec. 30 when it welcomes longtime in-state rival George Mason back to Broad Street. A Jan. 2, 2022 match-up with Davidson at the Siegel Center will follow. That contest will air on one of NBC Universal’s platforms, which will be announced at a later date.
On Jan. 14, VCU will meet defending league champion St. Bonaventure in Olean, N.Y. as part of the league’s Friday night showcase on ESPN2. The Bonnies will visit the Siegel Center on March 1 in a showdown that will be seen on CBS Sports Network.
The Rams A-10 docket includes the annual Richmond Area Honda Dealers Capital City Classic, home-and-home series with crosstown rival Richmond. VCU will head to the Robins Center on Jan. 29 for a CBS Sports Network contest, and the Spiders will return to the Siegel Center on Friday, Feb. 18 for a battle for city bragging rights on ESPN2.
The Rams will also rekindle their rivalry with Dayton on Jan. 5 at UD Arena (CBS Sports Network) and on Feb. 2 at the Siegel Center (CBS Sports Network).
Additionally, VCU will head to the Chaifetz Center in St. Louis, Mo. on March 5 to meet Saint Louis in its regular season finale and a rematch of a thrilling 2020-21 contest at the Siegel Center, won by the Rams.
