Lakers vs Celtics

Two of the great NBA franchises cross paths on Saturday night when the Los Angeles Lakers visit the Boston Celtics. After a recent nine-game winning streak, the Celtics have cooled off in recent days. Of course, it’s no coincidence that those struggles have come with Marcus Smart out because of an injury. Smart is only Boston’s fourth-leading scorer but leads the team in both assists and steals, making him a vital part of what the best team in the Eastern Conference does at both ends of the court. Meanwhile, the Lakers have won four of their last six games and nine of their last 14 games, finally showing some positive momentum. Los Angeles is 10-3-1 ATS during that stretch, including four SU wins as a road underdog. While some of the supporting players are still missing in action, the Lakers have been spurred on lately by having LeBron James and Anthony Davis both healthy, which could be enough to give them a fighting chance against the Smart-less Celtics. No. 9 Kansas vs Kentucky

The highlight of this weekend’s Big 12-SEC Challenge will be the Kentucky Wildcats hosting the no. 9 Kansas Jayhawks. The reigning national champs got off to a fast start this season, only to lose three straight games. In fairness, those losses have all come against ranked teams, although they are now just 3-2 in true road games. Kansas has struggled this year to find reliable depth with just seven players averaging more than eight minutes per game and few reliable scorers outside of Jalen Wilson and Gradey Dick. As for the Wildcats, they struggled early in the season but have finally started to hit their stride with four straight wins. Oscar Tshiebwe continues to be a double-double machine with Illinois State transfer Antonio Reeves heating up during Kentucky’s current winning streak. With all of that momentum and the Jayhawks in the midst of a slide, the Wildcats have a chance to pull off the upset at home on Saturday night.
