Carson Briere and Patrick Carrozzi -- two student-athletes at Mercyhurst University -- have been charged with criminal mischief, criminal conspiracy to to commit criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, according to Hayden Mitman and David Chang of NBC 10.

This comes after the two pushed a woman's wheelchair down the stairs at Sullivan's Pub and Eatery in Erie, Pennsylvania on March 11:

Carson, 23, is the son of Danny Briere, who racked up 696 career points during a 17-year career spent with the Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche.

Danny was named the interim general manager of the Flyers on March 10 -- just a day before the incident above took place -- when the team fired general manager Chuck Fletcher. Danny had previously been a special assistant to the general manager for the Flyers.

After the video of Carson pushing the wheelchair down the stairs emerged, Danny apologized on his son's behalf.

“I was shocked to see Carson’s actions in the video that was shared on social media yesterday. They are inexcusable and run completely counter to our family’s values on treating people with respect. Carson is very sorry and accepts full responsibility for his behavior."

Carson -- a junior center for Mercyhurt University's hockey team -- also issued his own apology.

"I am deeply sorry for my behavior on Saturday," Carson said. "There is no excuse for my actions, and I will do whatever I can to make up for this serious lack of judgment."

Sydney Benes -- who was in the bathroom when her wheelchair was pushed down the stairs -- issued a statement on her Twitter account after a GoFundMe was started to get her a new wheelchair:

The fundraiser is no longer accepting donations, but that's after $8,811 was raised from 329 different donors.

Before Carson was charged, he had already been suspended by the Mercyhurst hockey team and permanently banned from the bar.
