Gameday: Sabres hosting Nashville

BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo Sabres have won all five game since the Olympic break and are back on home ice, welcoming the Nashville Predators for their lone trip to KeyBank Center this regular season.

Neither team was able to score in the first period, in a low chance and low shot total period. Buffalo was credited with just two shots on goal in the opening period. They had the only power play of the period but failed to record a shot on the man advantage.

The Predators had six shots on goal in the first period. Alex Lyon started for Buffalo and stopped all six shots. Sam Carrick was acquired by the Sabres at the trade deadline on Friday. The veteran forward was on the ice for 3:09 in the first period.

Nashville was able to break the scoreless tie early in the second, just over a minute into the period on their first shot. Zachary L'Heureux was credited with his first goal in just his sixth game of the season to give the Predators a 1-0 lead over Buffalo.
