Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres are going to retire Ryan Miller’s number next season. No. 30 will go in the rafters, joining Dominik Hasek’s No. 39 as the only goaltenders to have their numbers retired by the Sabres.
Miller is Buffalo's all-time leader in wins with 284 and his 391 NHL wins are the most by any American-born player.
Miller played 540 games for the Sabres between 2002 and 2014. He won the Vezina Trophy and was a First-Team NHL All-Star in 2010 when he was 41-18-8 with a 2.22 goals-against average and had a .929 save percentage. All those numbers were career bests.

Miller also took Team USA to the gold medal game against Team Canada in the 2010 Olympics, but after a great performance throughout the games, Miller and the U.S. lost on a Sidney Crosby overtime goal.
The Sabres selected Miller in the fifth round of the 1999 NHL Draft and he then went on to play three seasons at Michigan State, where he won the Hobey Baker award.
Miller helped the Sabres to the Eastern Conference Finals in back-to-back years. He also played in 47 playoff games with the Sabres, going 25-22.
In addition to Hasek, Miller will join Seymour and Norty Knox, Rick Jeanneret, Gil Perreault, Rick Martin, Rene Robert, Danny Gare, Tim Horton and Pat LaFontaine in the rafters of the arena.
