Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – The Buffalo Sabres re-signed another one of their goalies on Tuesday, inking Malcolm Subban to a one-year, $850,000 contract. Subban was set to become an unrestricted free agency on Wednesday.
Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams acquired Subban back on Dec. 2 from the Blackhawks, giving Chicago future considerations in return. That means the Blackhawks essentially got nothing.
Before getting to Buffalo, Subban only played five games, and they were in the American Hockey League with the Rockford IceHogs. He went 2-2-1 with a 3.38 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage.
Subban only ended up playing four games with Buffalo before suffering a season-ending injury that required surgery. He was 0-2-1 with a 4.85 goals-against average and an .871 save percentage.
In 86 career NHL games with Buffalo, Chicago, the Vegas Golden Knights and Boston Bruins, the 28-year-old is 36-33-9 with a 3.10 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.
Subban was the 24th overall pick of the Bruins in the 2012 NHL Draft.
