Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Sabres got out to a hot start scoring just minutes into the game as Jack Quinn converted a 2-on-1 on a feed from Jason Zucker.
Then just over one minute later Alex Tuch made it a 2-0 game with a deflection on a point shot from Rasmus Dahlin.
San Jose would cut the lead in half midway through the first as Macklin Celebrini snuck a backhand past Alex Lyon in close.
Late in the first, the game started to get physical with Buffalo's new defenseman Logan Stanley getting into a fight with Zack Ostapchuk. Then on the next shift another fight broke out after Beck Malenstyn laid a big hit on Macklin Celebrini and Barclay Goodrow came to the defense of their young star.
