The Atlanta Braves got inexplicably swept by the Miami Marlins over the weekend. A small bump in the road during a 162 game season in the big picture, but when you look at the situation through a microscope, it’s important. The Braves, Orioles, Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays are locked in a tight battle for the best record in baseball.
The winner of this race will be awarded home field advantage throughout the playoffs, something the Braves would be able to take great advantage of with their stellar record and the crowds at Truist Park.
The Braves currently sit 96-53, the best record in the sport entering play Monday, and sport a 47-25 record at home. If they do not secure the best record, they still have an impressive road record at 49-28. The club, however, is just 5-5 in their last ten games played, far off their pace for most of the regular season.
Dukes & Bell know the importance of the club getting back to their winning ways
This is why I said I don’t want them to slow down. They need to go into the playoffs with some momentum,” Carl Dukes explained.
“I’ll tell you what, you gave up 36 runs against the Marlins. I’m not going to fret because you have a few more weeks to get through,” Mike Bell responded.
The Braves have 13 critical games left to play including a three-game set with NL East rival Philadelphia beginning Monday Night.
