
In a game heard on News/Talk 98.9 WORD, Clemson got a win in their Asheville opener Friday night. The Tigers came back and edged UAB 77-76 after a pair of made free throws with three seconds left.
In the Championship game Sunday afternoon, Clemson trailed Davidson 19-2 after the first 8 minutes. The Tigers then closed the 1st half on a 21-9 run to make it 28-23 Davidson at the half.
The Wildcats built a 9 point lead early in the 2nd half, Clemson answered with a 13-2 run to take the lead with 15 minutes to play. The Tigers led by 9 with just under five minutes to play. Davidson would close the gap to less than a minute left.
PJ Hall then sank a pair of free throws with 21 seconds left to put Clemson up 68-65. Davidson then missed on two attempts from three that would have tied the game.
PJ Hall and Syracuse transfer Joe Girard III led the way for Clemson with 17 each. Sophomore RJ Godfrey added 10 points and 7 boards.
Clemson is 3-0 and takes home the Asheville Championship. They are off until Sunday when they host Boise State.
