
A pair of late free throws from Chase Hunter with three seconds left lifted Clemson over UAB 77-76, Friday night at the Asheville Championship.
UAB led 42-39 at the half and led until Clemson took a 70-67 lead with 4:30 left on a Ian Schiefflin three pointer. UAB regained the lead 73-72 on a three from Eric Gaines with 52 seconds left. Clemson then got an old fashioned three from PJ Hall with 29 seconds left to to lead 75-73.
UAB answered with a 3-ball from Efrem Johnson with 9 seconds left to gain a one advantage at 76-75. Chase Hunter was then fouled on Clemson's ensuing possession and sank both foul shots to give Clemson the one point win.
The Tigers won despite being outrebounded 39-26 total and 12-5 on the offensive glass. PJ Hall had a game high 27 points to lead the way for Clemson, Hunter added 16 including the game winning free throws. Gaines and Johnson combined for 35 points for UAB.
Clemson will take on Davidson in the Finals of the Asheville Championship, that game is slated for Sunday at 3PM.
