MINNEAPOLIS (670 The Score) -- Entering the season, the Bears' kicking situation was their primary concern. At the end of a disappointing campaign, it's one of the few stable spots on the roster.
The Bears stand confident in kicker Eddy Pineiro moving into 2020, coach Matt Nagy said after Pineiro converted all four of his field-goal attempts in a 21-19 win against the Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, including the game-winning 22-yarder with 10 seconds left.
"That was a huge, huge, big void that we had going into this year," Nagy said of the kicker position. "I feel pretty good that void is filled."
The 24-year-old Pineiro hit 23-of-28 of his field-goal attempts (81.2%) this season, including his final 12. That run came after he had a midseason slump.
Pineiro missed two field-goal attempts -- including the potential game-winner -- in a 17-16 loss to the Chargers at Soldier Field on Oct. 27. Three weeks later, he missed both field-goal attempts in the Bears' loss to the Rams.
He then responded with his dozen consecutive makes, leaving the Bears confident in his place moving forward.
"I'm just happy I ended the season on a good note," Pineiro said.
