(670 The Score) The Bears have retained a key member of their offensive line.
Chicago has signed right tackle Bobby Massie to a four-year contract extension, acting decisively before he was set to hit free agency in March. He will be under team control through the 2022 season.
Massie has started 46 games for the Bears across the last three seasons. He spent his first four years with Arizona before Chicago signed him in 2016.
"Bobby has been an important part of our offensive line the past three years and has shown steady improvement during that time," general manager Ryan Pace said in a statement. "Bobby has a tremendous work ethic and has displayed the kind of toughness and consistency we want in our players. More importantly, he is a great teammate and we're excited to keep him in the fold."
Massie was part of a Bears offensive line that allowed 33 sacks in 2018, which tied for the eighth-fewest in the NFL.
On a Bears team with most of its starters locked up in 2019 and beyond, Massie was one of three keys players set to be free agents. The other two are safety Adrian Amos and nickel cornerback Bryce Callahan.
