(670 The Score) The Blackhawks have hired Sheldon Brookbank as an assistant coach on Jeremy Colliton's staff, they announced Friday afternoon.
Brookbank, 38, had been serving as an assistant coach for AHL Rockford. He was in his second season in Rockford, having served under Colliton previously before Colliton was promoted to replace the fired Joel Quenneville in early November.
Brookbank was a member of the champion 2013 Blackhawks and played two seasons in Chicago. He played parts of eight NHL seasons for four teams.
Anders Sörensen has been hired to replace Brookbank's position as assistant coach of the Icehogs. Sörensen, 43, was in his fifth season as development coach for the Blackhawks.
