Amid Frustration, Nagy Tries To Keep Bears Together

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- A day after the Bears' disappointing loss to the Saints, coach Matt Nagy on Sunday tried to see the light.

"The sun came up today," Nagy said at Halas Hall on a cloudy Monday.

The Bears fell to 3-3 with a 36-25 loss to the Saints at Soldier Field on Sunday. It was an ugly afternoon for Nagy's Bears, who sputtered on offense, were gashed on defense and made key miscues on special teams.

Inside the home locker room, the prevailing tone was silence. A few players, most notably receiver Allen Robinson, turned to Twitter to take issue with the criticism.

While Nagy spoke Sunday of "horse blinders and earmuffs" to block out the skepticism, he's fine with his team taking the loss hard.

"I'm OK with the frustration," Nagy said. "I get frustrated. That's natural."

Nagy admitted he was unaware of Robinson's tweets, in which he had a back-and-forth with a couple individuals who criticized him for trash talking while the Bears trailed big. Nagy reiterated his hope for leaders to emerge within the Bears.

The challenge for Nagy will be keeping the Bears together as the disappointment mounts. The Bears had the same 3-3 record after six games in 2018 before rebounding with a surge to go 12-4, but this feels different.

Nagy is hopeful the Bears won't let the adversity divide them.

"You will never pull me down," Nagy said of outside criticism. "That's number one. Never. You won't do it. Second of all, you'll never pull our team down. It doesn't matter what we're going through. It will never happen. Not under my watch. That's just not how we roll.

"It has nothing to do with us versus them. There is so much other stuff out there that can affect you in a negative way. That's just the world we're in. There's a lot of negativity in this world. What we can do when we're in these walls is just completely shut that out.

"Stay off the Twitter. If you're going to do something like that, just wish somebody a happy birthday."
