(670 The Score) Bears tight end Trey Burton is officially listed as questionable for the season opener against the Packers at Soldier Field on Thursday evening. He suffered a groin strain last week.
Coach Matt Nagy indicated Burton will be a game-time decision after he likely tests his injury at Soldier Field before the team sets its inactives 90 minutes prior to kickoff. Burton also missed the Bears' playoff loss to the Eagles last January with a groin strain.
Burton was a limited participant in practice this week, but the Bears are unsure of whether he could withstand the rigors of a full game. Nagy is confident in the team's game plan regardless of whether Burton plays.
"We're prepared both ways," Nagy said.
The Bears also listed defensive lineman Bilal Nichols (knee) and reserve tackle Rashaad Coward (elbow) as questionable. They were each limited participants in practice Tuesday. Nichols was sidelined from the team's situational work on the indoor turf of the Walter Payton Center as a matter of maintenance, Nagy said.
Kickoff between the Bears and Packers comes at 7:20 p.m. CT. The game can be heard on WBBM Newsradio 780.
