(670 The Score) The Cubs are one of three MLB teams that aren't participating in the study of coronavirus antibody testing, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reported.
Full details weren't clear on why the Cubs didn't participate, though the team didn't "resolve discussions with their medical staff over details of the testing in time to consent," Wittenmyer reported. The Cubs do expect to be included in the second phase of the study, according to the report.
The Blue Jays are also one of the teams not participating in the study because they aren't based in America, the report said. The third team to not participate remained unknown.
MLB is taking part in the coronavirus antibody testing study, with 10,000 samples being collected for researcher Dr. Daniel Eichner and for researchers at Stanford and USC.
The study is being conducted to determine the national rate of infection as well as seeking information on potential immunities.
