Garrett Crochet Comfortable As Starter Or Reliever

(670 The Score) The White Sox selected Tennessee left-hander Garrett Crochet at No. 11 overall in the MLB amateur draft last week confident that he will become a key part of their pitching staff.

But it's not clear whether Crochet is a better fit in the White Sox's starting rotation or pitching out of the bullpen. The 20-year-old Crochet has no preference, as he told Inside The Clubhouse on Saturday.

"I'm comfortable with doing both," Crochet said. "I did both in college and felt like I did both pretty well. I felt like there were some pros and cons to both.

"I'm just willing to do whatever the White Sox want me to do. I feel like they picked me with a plan in mind. I'm just excited to follow that plan."

Crochet posted a 4.64 ERA over 132 career innings at the University of Tennessee, striking out 149 hitters in that span. Crochet has drawn comparisons to the White Sox's first-round pick in 2010 -- Chris Sale, whom the team used out of the bullpen later that season.

Sale made 21 appearances as a rookie in 2010, posting a 1.93 ERA. He joined the White Sox's rotation in 2012.
