CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- Rookie left fielder Eloy Jimenez was removed from the White Sox-Tigers game in the third inning on Friday with a sprained right ankle.
Jimenez's right foot took full impact on the left field wall after chasing down a home run off of the bat of Detroit's Grayson Greiner. He walked slowly back to the dugout for observation but had to be helped into the locker room.
The team announced that X-rays on the foot were negative for any break. He will undergo an MRI and be re-evaluated on Saturday to assess the extent of the sprain. Jimenez was reinstated off of the bereavement list on Friday. He had missed three games after the passing of his grandmother.
The 22-year-old Dominican signed a six-year $43 million in late March. He was hitting.231 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI.
