(670 The Score) There's more bad news for the White Sox on a Tuesday full of it.

As White Sox general manager Rick Hahn addressed his team missing out on star free agent Manny Machado, he also revealed that outfield prospect Luis Basabe suffered a broken hamate bone in his left hand. The 22-year-old Basabe will undergo surgery Wednesday and be sidelined completely for four to six weeks, with the expectation that he'll return to playing again in 12 weeks.

Basabe was acquired by the White Sox from the Red Sox as part of the blockbuster deal that sent ace Chris Sale to Boston in December 2016. He had 15 home runs and 56 RBIs in time split between High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham in 2018, posting a slash line of 258/.354/.445.

The White Sox have dealt with a number of injuries to prized prospects in recent seasons, with the likes of right-hander Michael Kopech, outfielder Eloy Jimenez, third baseman Jake Burger being sidelined for long stretches previously.
