White Sox Promote Prospect Luis Robert To Triple-A

CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- Considered one of the cornerstones of the White Sox's rebuild, prized outfield prospect Luis Robert is being promoted to Triple-A, general manager Rick Hahn said Saturday evening.

Robert will report to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights next week after playing in the Futures Game in Cleveland on Sunday. Signed out of Cuba in 2017, Robert is the No. 5 prospect in baseball, according to MLB.com. He has 16 home runs and 53 RBIs with a slash line of .349/.401/.618 in 328 plate appearances between High-A Winston Salem and Double-A Birmingham this season.

With the promotion to Triple-A looming, when could the 21-year-old Robert reach the majors?

"In terms of what that means for his future, larger questions about his timeline to Chicago, quite frankly it's premature to really speculate along those lines," Hahn said.

Over three seasons in the minors, Robert is hitting .317/.395/.522 with 19 home runs and 84 RBIs over 153 games and 650 plate appearances. He missed much of 2018 with a sprained ligament in his left thumb, causing a delay in development.

The White Sox held two goals for Robert this season: stay healthy and acclimate himself at each level.

"We feel like he as done a great job this year, and he's ready for that next challenge," Hahn said.
