Cubs Acquire Derek Holland From Giants

(670 The Score) The Cubs have acquired left-hander Derek Holland from the Giants in exchange for cash considerations, they announced Friday afternoon.

Holland, 32, has a 5.90 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in 31 appearances, including seven starts. He also has a 6.08 FIP. While struggling in general, Holland has been strong against lefties, holding them to a .182 batting average and .471 OPS this season.

Holland had a rough outing last Saturday, allowing four earned runs in one inning. Prior to that, he had been unscored upon in nine of his last 10 appearances.

In a corresponding move, the Cubs designated lefty reliever Tim Collins for assignment. Collins had a 3.12 ERA in 8 2/3 innings across nine appearances for the Cubs.

Holland won't be available when the Cubs play at the Milwaukee Brewers in the opener of a three-game series Friday evening.
