(670 The Score) Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo missed his second straight day of workouts Wednesday due to back tightness.
The team expects that he'll be fine with a bit of rest moving forward. Rizzo has dealt with back soreness in past years but managed it well.
"He came in yesterday and felt a little stiffness in some similar areas that he's been sore in before," manager David Ross said. "Just getting ahead of it. We have this time. We had a light day yesterday with just the two-and-a-half innings (of an intrasquad game) and then a really light day of just live BP today. So he's day-to-day, but I just wanted to make sure at this time in the schedule that we use caution."
The Cubs open the regular season by hosting the Brewers at Wrigley Field on July 24.
