(670 The Score) The Cubs have hired Adam Beard as their director of high performance, they announced Tuesday afternoon.
Beard spent the past four years in the same position with the Cleveland Browns. He was the first person to serve in that role in the NFL.
In his new job with the Cubs, Beard will "be responsible for overseeing the integration and management of a collaborative approach to all aspects of training, conditioning, mental skills, nutrition, sport science and beyond," the team said in a news release.
Prior to working for the Browns, Beard served as the head of physical performance for the Welsh Rugby Union from 2009-'15. He has more than 20 years of experience in the industry.
