(670 The Score) Third baseman Kris Bryant was scratched from the team's lineup against the Mariners on Tuesday with right knee soreness.
Bryant left a win against the Giants on July 24 with right knee soreness, and it has flared back up lately. Manager Joe Maddon mentioned part of the reason that he gave Bryant an off day in a win last Friday was because it would give Bryant's knee some time to rest up.
"I don't think it's awful," Maddon told reporters late Tuesday afternoon.
Bryant had been set to hit cleanup. In his place, Ian Happ will start at third base and hit sixth, while first baseman Anthony Rizzo will hit fourth.
Since July 24, Bryant is hitting .227 with five homers, 13 RBIs and a .673 OPS in 34 games.
