(670 The Score) The Cubs will waste no time getting Ian Happ in the lineup after officially recalling him from Triple-A Iowa.
The switch-hitting Happ will bat sixth and play left field when Chicago opens a pivotal three-game series at Milwaukee on Friday night. It will mark Happ's season debut, as he had spent the entire campaign at Triple-A after being optioned there late in spring training.
Happ has been hot lately, hitting .333 with three homers and nine walks in his past 10 games for Iowa. Happ hit .242 with 16 homers, 53 RBIs and a .795 OPS in 99 games at Triple-A this season.
After a strong rookie season in 2017, Happ regressed in 2018, hitting .233 with 15 homers, 44 RBIs and a .761 OPS in 142 games. The Cubs demoted him after he struggled mightily in the spring, when he hit .135 with a .389 OPS in 52 at-bats across 17 games.
In another notable move, manager Joe Maddon has tabbed catcher Willson Contreras with leading off for the Cubs on Friday.
