Aaron Rodgers signs massive extension to remain with Packers

(Audacy) Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers won't be leaving Green Bay -- not now and perhaps not ever.

Rodgers has agreed to return to the Packers on one of the most lucrative contracts in the history of professional sports, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Tuesday. Rodgers and the Packers have agreed to a four-year, $200-million deal with $153 million guaranteed, Rapoport reported.

Rodgers, 38, did consider the possibility of being traded to the Denver Broncos or even retiring after 17 seasons, according to Rapoport. Ultimately though, this deal allowed Rodgers to reset the market in terms of quarterback contracts while also remaining with the only team that he's ever played for. He'll now continue to chase his second career Super Bowl title.

Rodgers has won the last two NFL MVP awards. He threw for 4,115 yards, 37 touchdowns and four interceptions in 16 games in 2021 before the Packers were upset by the 49ers in the divisional round of the playoffs.
