Here are our 670 game predictions from on-air hosts, producers and writers.
David Haugh: Bears 24, Lions 20
The Lions' remade defense still looks shaky, and Mitchell Trubisky will raise hopes that he has revived his career with a crisp, efficient performance. Trubisky's legs will hurt Detroit as much as his arm. The Bears' defense will do the rest against Matthew Stafford.
Dan McNeil: Bears 20, Lions 19
It's tougher than ever to call a lid lifter with zero preseason games, but I will give Dr. Detroit -- Trubisky -- the benefit of the doubt. For the season, I have the Bears going 8-8 again and missing the playoffs.
Mike Mulligan: Bears 21, Lions 19
This is a vote for the Bears defense and the possibility (fingers crossed) that the offensive game plan tries to play to the strength of the team. It's early and there's limited information available, but you have to love getting points here.
Danny Parkins: Lions 23, Bears 13
The storyline of Trubisky's success against the Lions is way overblown, and I think regression happens in the opener.
Herb Lawrence: Bears 28, Lions 10
There's nothing that makes Trubisky look more the part of an NFL quarterback than going against Matt Patricia-led Lions squad. Chicago has a 3-2 record when Trubisky starts a game against Detroit, against whom he has a 106.3 passer rating with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. This is going to be a walk as the Beloved Defense is ready for whatever Stafford and Co. have for them.
Chris Emma: Bears 17, Lions 13
As the Bears and Trubisky look to rebound this season, they have the ideal opportunity to begin strong in Detroit.
Rick Camp: Lions 24, Bears 20
With so much in the air, I'll go with the better quarterback and his play-caller in Darrell Bevell who were really in a groove when Stafford went down in 2019.
Jay Zawaski: Bears 21, Lions 17
The Bears are better than people think they are. A year ago, people were talking Super Bowl. That's far-fetched now, but the Bears also aren't awful. I think they'll surprise this season.
Nick Shepkowski: Bears 13, Lions 12
In a game that sets professional football back 35 years, it's an Eddie Jackson interception that keeps the Lions from attempting a potential game-winning field goal.
Shane Riordan: Bears 24, Lions 18
I have a vendetta against Ford Field. It was 2013. I was standing outside trying to buy some scalped tickets with the White Sox in town. A man, underestimating how handsome and tough I was, tried to take my keys from my lanyard as he showed me a map of Comerica Park's seating arrangement. Able to regain control of my next-to-empty glorified change purse, I scolded the gentleman with words not suitable for a 21-year-old. Proud, I moved to the next scalper, wallet in tow. I snagged tickets from a family not interested in sending me home more poor than I had arrived. Screw the city of Detroit.
P.S. -- What the hell are going to do with my keys?!?
