Akiem Hicks Rejoins Bears At Practice

Hicks has been nursing a quad injury for the last two weeks.

(670 The Score) Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks returned to practice Thursday after missing nearly two weeks with a quad injury.

Hicks' work came in what was a light walk-through practice for the team, coach Matt Nagy said. The Bears aren't required to release an injury report until next Wednesday, which is four days ahead of their season opener against the Lions on Sept. 13.

"Anytime you see 96 out there, that's good thing," Nagy said. "We like that, and we know opposing offenses don't."

Hicks, 30, played in just five games in 2019. He missed the majority of the season with a left elbow injury that he suffered in early October.

Hicks anticipates being ready for the Bears' opener.

"When we get to the regular season and you get to unload on somebody you don't have to see in (the Bears) locker room, that's when the real pleasure comes," Hicks said.

Earlier this week, the Bears also welcomed back top receiver Allen Robinson after he dealt with an ankle injury. The status of running back David Montgomery (groin) is unclear.

The Bears are off until Sunday, when they hold a light walk-through ahead of preparation for their opener.
