Bears believe WR Luther Burden III (hamstring) is day-to-day

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) — Bears rookie receiver Luther Burden III is considered day-to-day as he continues to manage a hamstring injury.

Burden was absent for the Bears' first practice of training camp Wednesday at Halas Hall. He missed the majority of the offseason program as well. The team hoped that Burden could be ready to practice for the start training camp, coach Ben Johnson said while adding that he isn't far from a return.

"Hopeful we'll get him out there fairly soon," Johnson said before practice Thursday.

"I'm hopeful it's just a few days."

The No. 39 overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft, Burden was a standout at Missouri. He earned all-SEC honors twice at Missouri, hauling in 192 receptions and 21 touchdowns over three seasons.

Burden had a strong 2023 season, when he had 86 catches for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games. He had 61 catches for 676 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games in 2024.

Bears rookie defensive tackle Shemar Turner (ankle) will be sidelined from practice Thursday. The team is still evaluating his status. Turner suffered the injury late in practice Wednesday. Rookie cornerback Zah Frazier isn't with the team due to personal reasons.

Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson (leg) is present with the Bears at Halas Hall. He started training camp on the non-football injury list.

The Bears will conduct their second practice of camp Thursday morning.
