Bears claim returner Nsimba Webster on waivers

Webster, 25, returned kicks and punts for the Rams over the last two seasons.

(670 The Score) The Bears have claimed receiver/returner Nsimba Webster off waivers from the 49ers, according to the NFL's transaction wire.

Webster, 25, has 32 career punt returns for an average of 6.3 yards and 18 kickoff returns for an average of 22.4 yards. He has played two NFL seasons, both with the Rams. The 49ers then claimed him off waivers in July.

The Bears are expected to make corresponding moves to their 53-man roster. Rookie offensive tackle Teven Jenkins is expected to be placed on injured reserve. Jenkins underwent back surgery in August, but the Bears are hopeful he can return later this season.

Veteran linebacker Danny Trevathan could also land on injured reserve with a knee issue, the Chicago Tribune reported. Neither move has been made official but would open roster spots for the team.

The Bears on Tuesday trimmed their roster to the 53-man limit. None of the 21 players they placed on waivers were claimed. Teams can begin forming their practice squads Wednesday.
