(670 The Score) Bears tight end Cole Kmet liked what he saw from the team’s offense in a 24-18 win against the Rams on Sunday at Soldier Field.
“It had an identity in terms of the run game,” Kmet said on the Spiegel & Holmes Show on Monday afternoon. “I think physical football is the starting point of everything. Especially offensively, when you’re able to run the football effectively, you’re able to open up a lot of things in the passing game as well too. I think that’s a good starting point for us. It’s something that we’ve done well the past couple years, and it’s been a slow start to begin the season, but I thought (Sunday) was a good step in that direction.”
The Bears rushed 28 yards for 131 yards against the Rams. They were led by lead back D’Andre Swift, who had 16 carries for a season-high 93 yards after struggling mightily in the first three games.
“As we continue to get more comfortable in this thing with the guys that we’ve got and as we continue to build this thing, I think it will only get better and better,” Kmet said. “But that starting point is the run game. If you can get that thing going, then all that other stuff will be sure to open up.
"It was a really good step forward," Kmet added of the Bears making adjustments and getting the win.
