LAKE FOREST, Ill. (104.3 The Score) -- One of the primary goals throughout an NFL training camp is to keep players healthy heading into the regular season. The Bears have struggled in that regard.
On Saturday morning, the Bears practiced without star pass rusher Montez Sweat, left tackle Braxton Jones and nickelback Jaylon Jones. Then, wide receiver Luther Burden III limped The with an apparent leg injury and safety Cam Lewis limped off with a potential foot/ankle injury.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson is not scheduled to be available to reporters until Tuesday and the team has not provided any further updates.
The Bears have dealt with several notable injuries leading up to this in training camp. Veteran safety Coby Bryant, who signed a three-year, $40-million deal in March, is set to miss several games to open the season after suffering a knee injury Monday. Starting nickelback Kyler Gordon remains on the physically-unable-to-perform list with a calf issue and has not come close to returning.
Jones was the apparent leader in the Bears' competition at left tackle before departing practice Thursday. His injury is not believed to be serious.
The Bears kick off the regular season Sunday, Sept. 13, when they take on the Panthers in Charlotte.
