(Audacy) No quarterback around the NFL is getting sacked like Chicago Bears rookie Justin Fields.
In fact, it isn't even close.
Fields was sacked four more times in Chicago's 38-3 loss at Tampa Bay on Sunday, bringing the total to 22 times that he has been sacked this season. That makes him the NFL leader, ahead of the Titans' Ryan Tannehill, the Panthers' Sam Darnold and the Ravens' Lamar Jackson — who have all been sacked 21 times.
But those numbers don't come close to painting the full picture.
Fields has attempted just 131 passes, which ranks 30th in the league. So he has been sacked 14.4% of the time he has attempted to pass. No other quarterback in the NFL eclipses the 10% mark, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

That's the result of a perfect storm of a rookie quarterback in Fields learning to read the pass rush and get rid of the ball quickly while working behind a shoddy Bears offensive line.
Some would say the Bears' play-calling isn’t helping matters either.
Fields, whom the Bears traded up to select with the 11th overall pick in the NFL Draft, has struggled for most of the season. He has played in seven games, starting five. He officially named the Bears' starting quarterback following his team's win against the Lions in Week 4.
Fields has two touchdown passes and six interceptions while also losing two fumbles. His 16.7 QBR is dead last among the 32 qualifying players in the NFL.
