(670 The Score) With the Bears struggling midway through the 2020 season, coach Matt Nagy made the decision to relinquish play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor.
The Bears found a boost under Lazor's guidance, posting more than 350 yards of offense in the final six of his seven regular-season games calling plays. But Nagy opted to take back play-calling duties this season, a move he feels confident in as the Bears prepare to visit the Los Angeles Rams in their season opener Sunday night.
"After three years of where we were, you get into last year and you get to a point where we were struggling," Nagy told reporters Thursday at Halas Hall. "Again, it was a gut decision for me. And I thought it was what was best for the team at that time.
"You learn in those situations -- was it the right thing to do or not to do? And there's not necessarily a right or wrong answer other than I think that I know going into this year I feel really good with where I'm at as a play-caller."

Hired as Bears head coach in 2018, Nagy's offense was ninth in scoring in that first season but just 21st in yardage. Chicago was 29th in scoring and yardage in 2019. The Bears were 22nd in scoring and 26th in yardage in 2020.
Kickoff between the Bears and Rams is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. CT from SoFi Stadium on Sunday.
