(670 The Score) The Bears' defense will get a big boost in its efforts to stop the run, with nose tackle John Jenkins active against the Panthers on Sunday.
Jenkins, who suffered a thumb injury two games into the season, was activated off short-term injured reserve Friday after missing the last three contests. The 6-foot-3, 327-pound Jenkins brings the Bears a presence at nose tackle that has been lacking without Eddie Goldman, who opted out of this season.
The Bears' inactives include safety Deon Bush (hamstring), defensive back Duke Shelley, offensive lineman Arlington Hambright, receiver Riley Ridley and edge rusher Trevis Gipson. Defensive back Sherrick McManis, the Bears' longtime special teams ace, is active after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury.
Kickoff between the Bears (4-1) and Panthers (3-2) comes at noon CT from Bank of America Stadium.
