(104.3 The Score) The Bears have promoted Jeff King to assistant general manager, meaning he'll serve as the top lieutenant to fifth-year general manager Ryan Poles.
King replaces former Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham, who left to become the Falcons' general manager. King has served as the Bears' senior director of player personnel since 2024, having worked his way up from a scouting internship in 2015.
"Jeff has earned this promotion through his commitment to our team and his excellence within our operation, as well as the positive impact that he has created throughout our organization," Poles said. "We look forward to Jeff's continued leadership and contributions as we work toward building a sustained winner."
King was a seven-year NFL veteran who played five seasons with the Panthers from 2006-'10 and two with the Cardinals from 2011-'12. He was hired into the Bears' scouting department by former general manager Ryan Pace during his first year on the job.
The 43-year-old King was considered the favorite to land this position given his strong rapport with Poles and work in leading the Bears' breakthrough 2025 campaign.
Cunningham was the Bears' first ever assistant general manager, a key position that Poles created when he was hired by Chicago in January 2022.
