(670 The Score) The Bears have retained a pair of key special teams contributors by agreeing to new two-year deals with linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga and cornerback Josh Blackwell, sources confirmed Thursday.
Ogbongbemiga, 26, originally signed with the Bears last March. He had seven tackles in 17 games in the 2024 season while primarily playing on special teams. Ogbongbemiga’s deal is worth up to $5 million.
Blackwell, 25, signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He has 44 career tackles and an interception in 43 games while playing on special teams and in a reserve nickelback role. Blackwell’s deal is worth up to $6 million.
Also on Thursday, the Bears reached a one-year deal with veteran tight end Durham Smythe. The NFL open negotiating window starts Monday, while the new league year officially starts Wednesday afternoon.
