(670 The Score) The Bears' franchise record for sacks in a single season was broken Sunday when veteran pass rusher Robert Quinn recorded his 18th sack in 2021.
The record was previously held by Hall of Fame defensive end Richard Dent, who recorded 17.5 sacks in 1984. Dent carries great admiration for what Quinn accomplished this season, as he told Mark Grote on 670 The Score on Tuesday night.
"Records are meant to be set and records are meant to be broken," Dent said. "That's the way I look at it. It's something you cherish, it's something you appreciate. But at the end of the day, the game is for the next man.
"Congratulations to him."
Dent and Quinn spoke to each other Saturday, one day before the record was broken. For the 31-year-old Quinn, putting his name alongside a great in Dent was something that held great meaning.
"It's an honor," Quinn said. "A Hall of Famer in Richard Dent.
"At the end of the day, I'm just doing my job."

The Bears (6-10) will play the Vikings (7-9) on Sunday at Minnesota. Quinn is one sack off his career-high of 19, which he set in 2013.
