LAKE FOREST, Ill. (104.3 The Score) – The Bears selected Arizona State linebacker Keyshaun Elliott at No. 166 overall in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.
Elliott, 22, was a two-time second-team All-Big 12 linebacker with the Sun Devils. He logged 98 tackles and seven sacks last season.
Elliott joins a Bears linebacker group that was seeking depth this offseason. Chicago released veteran linebacker Tremaine Edmunds in March and is awaiting linebacker T.J. Edwards’ return from a fractured fibula.
Elliott is positioned to compete for a reserve and special teams role with the Bears.
The Bears hold two more selections in this NFL Draft, with both looming in the seventh round. Earlier Saturday, they selected Texas cornerback Malik Muhammad in the fourth round.
