(670 The Score) Bears left guard Teven Jenkins has suffered another worrisome injury setback.
Jenkins is likely to miss the start of the regular season with a leg injury, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reported late Sunday night. Jenkins dealt with injuries in each of his first two NFL seasons, but he spoke of his health in a positive light after the Bears finished their joint practice with the Colts last Thursday in Westfield, Ind.
"I mean, it hopefully shows signs of my wanted durability of myself for the rest of the season," Jenkins said. "So, as long as I'm staying out here right now through training camp, hopefully it shows positive signs for the rest of the year."
Jenkins didn't play in the Bears' loss to the Colts in preseason action Saturday, but Chicago rested almost all of its starters. He did participate in the Bears' joint practices against the Colts.
A second-round pick of the Bears in 2021, Jenkins has played in 19 NFL games, starting 13. He missed the majority of his rookie season after undergoing back surgery in August 2021, as he appeared in just the final six contests.
Jenkins missed four games in 2022 and was carted off the field in a December game due to a neck injury.
The Bears haven't confirmed Jenkins' injury. Coach Matt Eberflus isn't scheduled to address reporters Monday after practice.
The Bears open the regular season Sept. 10, when they host the Packers at Soldier Field.
